Gleeds sponsors 2017 RICS World Built Environment Forum Summit

Gleeds were proud Gold Sponsors of the RICS 2017 World Built Environment Forum Summit, held in Shanghai on 27th & 28th March.

The Forum is a global network of built environment professionals and stakeholders, and is aimed at combining knowledge, skills and resources to create and manage the built environment that global populations need. The Summit was attended by more than 700 professionals across 20 countries, from investors, developers and consultants to government officials.

Discussions explored the challenges of geopolitical shifts, urban resilience and green infrastructure through the lens of China’s ‘One Belt, One Road’ (OBOR) economic development initiative. OBOR connects emerging centres of growth around the world through infrastructure, trade and investment. Statistics provided by research institutions around the world indicate that the initiative is expected to cover 70% of the world’s population, 75% of its energy resources and 55% of global GDP.

Participants recognised that OBOR could potentially raise the prosperity of an estimated 4.4bn people living in the 65 nations along the Belt and Road routes.

The first two Annual Summit events took place in Washington in 2016 and in Shanghai in 2017. The next Annual Summit will be in London on 23rd - 24th April 2018.

17 employees from the Gleeds Shanghai office joined different workshops across the two days, including the Young Talent Forum, which not only reinforces existing business relationships, but also raised Gleeds profile among Chinese talent and global built environment decision makers.
