Gleeds Q1 2017 Inflation Report: Industry concerns for skilled labour shortage

Gleeds’ latest economic and regional inflation report assesses the implications and uncertainty of triggering Article 50 in preparation for negotiating the UK’s exit from the EU, including the skilled labour shortage and the growing impact this could have on consultants and contractors alike.

The report also reviews Philip Hammond’s Budget announcement, assessing the aims to take Britain back to ‘living within its means’, and how this may impact the UK’s construction industry.

UK regions report a mixed picture of construction activity in Q1, following the economic uncertainty surrounding Brexit, with the weakened pound and relative cost of imported materials and equipment continuing to impact costs.
